Dear Snow: Enough is enough.

Warning: Monday Rant.  Not very well written but I have to get this out or I’ll explode.

Yesterday’s snow/rain/sleet/ice storm was the last straw for me.  I’m over it .

I’m sick of snow.

I’m not just some girl “from away” that can’t handle this winter.  Some Southerner that can’t deal.  This winter is ridiculous. This winter has been long.  This winter has been cold.  Dreadfully cold.

My friends from Maine echo this sentiment.  We are all tired of this!!

Due to the days of school cancelled, some for no reason other than the threat of bad weather, my daughter will be likely attending school until it is time for her to move up to third grade in the fall.

I recently heard a news story where a man in Fargo, North Dakota was arrested for using a flame-thrower in his front yard in an effort to remove snow.  I think he may be onto something.

That was my front yard yesterday.  On March 30, 2014.

This time last year the only snow we had on the ground was in the shadows and under trees and shady places.  I was running every other day.  Temps were in the 40s and 50s.  Not languishing in the 30s.

MY KIDS COULD PLAY OUTSIDE.

The fact that I was in Georgia for a couple of weeks in March doesn’t exactly help.  The trees there were budding and beautiful.  Early spring flowers were blooming.  Grass was just starting to turn green.

My dad owns a feed and seed store and they have vegetable plants for purchase already.

Back to Maine: I’m usually planning my garden by now.  I can’t even get excited about that until I can see grass.

Something’s gotta give.

Maine friends, I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.  This is my 4th winter here.  And the longest.  And the coldest.

How does it rank to you?  Share your thoughts below in the comments or on the Graceful Mess Facebook page.

In the meantime, I’m checking out the flamethrowers on Amazon.

I guess there is one upside to all of the snow… no potholes: No Potholes
